Place
Thornberry Drive, Thornberry, Alpharetta, GA 30022
Property
Residential. Homeowner name and house number withheld.
Surfaces
Red-brick patio and pavers, raised brick terrace with iron railings, brick steps, aggregate walkways, brick side walkway, tall brick retaining wall
Equipment in the photos
Round surface cleaner on the flat brick and aggregate. Alpha Pressure Washing truck and enclosed trailer at the curb.

The brick on this patio had gone dark. Moss and mildew sat across the pavers and packed into the joints, so the red of the brick only showed in patches. Leaves had settled into the mortar. The same evening’s work covered the rest of the hardscape around the house, not only the open patio.

A raised brick terrace with iron railings sits above the yard, with brick steps between the levels. Aggregate walkways run through the back of the property. A brick walkway follows the side of the house. A tall brick retaining wall stands along one side of the yard, and that wall carried the same dark growth.

Alpharetta Pressure Washing cleaned those surfaces on October 23, 2026. The photographs below were taken on that job. They show the surfaces before cleaning, the surface cleaner while the work was underway, and the same areas after. Where two frames are the same view, the caption says so. Where the camera moved, the caption says that too. This was restoration by cleaning: moss and mildew washed off the brick and the aggregate. The photographs do not show tuckpointing, sealing, or replacement of brick.

The brick patio

The wide view looks across the patio toward the back of the brick house. A grill and covered outdoor furniture sit at the edge, and a black metal fence closes the yard. In the before photograph the pavers are mottled green and black. In the after photograph, taken from the same direction, the brick is red again.

Drag the gold handle, or focus it and use the arrow keys. The before photograph is vertical and the after photograph is wider. Both are cropped here to the patio so the brick lines up. If the slider does not load, the two photographs sit side by side.

Close view of the moss, and the wider after

The close photograph is the brick before cleaning: green moss in the joints and a gray film across the pavers, with leaves caught in the mortar. Beside it is the wider after photograph of that patio. It is not a tight crop of the same square. The cleaned brick, the grill, and the fence are the after view of this surface.

Raised brick terrace

Before cleaning, the raised terrace and the steps down from it are dark with mildew. Iron railings stand above the landing. After cleaning, the terrace brick reads red and the aggregate at the base of the steps is a light tan. The after photograph is taken from the terrace looking along the rail, so it is the same terrace from a different angle, not a repeat of the first frame. The photographs do not show separate work on the iron railings. The railings are in the frame because they are part of the terrace.

Brick steps

One flight of brick steps, photographed before cleaning, is mottled with mildew on the treads and risers, next to a downspout and the white trim of the house. Another photograph shows brick steps after cleaning: even red treads, a white lattice screen, and a small shrub at the edge. These are the brick steps on this property. The camera positions are not the same, so this pair is before and after of the steps, not one locked-off shot.

Side brick walkway

Before cleaning, the brick walk along the side of the house is green with moss, shaded by shrubs, with a fence at the end of the path. After cleaning, that side walkway is red brick again, running beside the foundation, with a small utility fixture and a downspout along the wall. Both photographs are horizontal views of that walkway.

Aggregate walkways

Before cleaning, an aggregate walkway and the landing at the bottom of a set of steps are dark and stained. Moss sits on the brick step, and leaves are on the ground. After cleaning, the same landing is a light exposed-aggregate surface and the brick step at the top of the frame is red. A separate photograph shows the round surface cleaner sitting on a cleaned stretch of that aggregate path, with the hose running back across the stone and shrubs on both sides.

Tall brick retaining wall

The retaining wall is brick, with trees and shrubs along the top. In this photograph a surface cleaner is on the face of the wall while the work is still going. The lower courses are lighter where the brick has been cleaned. The top of the wall is still dark with growth. A crew member is in the foreground. The photograph is the wall during cleaning, not a finished after.
